As early adopters of LG Optimus 2X would have noted the Android-based smartphone was plagued by random reboots and shutdowns. Fret not as LG has confirmed that its customers from Europe will be getting a patch for the issues this week.

Users of the Optimus 2X, running on a 1 Ghz dual core Nvidia Tegra 2processor, had voiced their frustrations on social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter.

There is no explanation as to why these problems occur, but LG stated the Optimus 2X reboots arbitrarily or shuts down when the device is charging, the power button is pressed, or the phone is in standby.

The firmware update will roll out North America and other regions at a later date.

At a company investor meeting on May 18, Renee James, senior vice president and general manager of Intel'™s Software and Services Group, spoke of how Windows 8 designed for Intel's x86 processor based systems will be able to run programs intended for earlier versions of Windows, while ARM-based devices wont support such functionality.Given the close relationship between Microsoft and Intel and their respective forays into the mobile market, Intel's statements assume a greater significance. Both companies have something to gain from their ongoing collaboration.

Intel is targeting ARM chips, as the latter currently dominate the very lucrative mobile market that includes smartphones, tablets and netbooks. By pointing out that ARM based devices will be unable to run legacy applications, Intel must be hoping that businesses and consumers will be more inclined to opt for Intel as it has a long history of supporting Windows on a variety of platforms.

Microsoft on the other hand, by introducing multiple versions of Windows 8 for both Intel and ARM based systems, is looking to expand its presence in the tablet market, which is currently dominated by Apple's iPad and Google Android devices.

Interestingly, Microsoft disagreed with the Intel executive'™s comments and said the following in a statement sent to The Register, "Intel'™s statements during yesterday'™s Intel Investor Meeting about Microsoft's plans for the next version of Windows were factually inaccurate and unfortunately misleading. From the first demonstrations of Windows on SoC, we have been clear about our goals and have emphasized that we are at the technology demonstration stage. As such, we have no further details or information at this time."

Many believe that Nokia N9 is long dead with the company joining hands with Microsoft. However, a leaked video advert on the site 'pocketnow.com' suggests otherwise.

An official-looking promo clip, shows off the handset. The minute-long teaser reportedly confirms the Nokia N9's 12 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss lens and dual-LED flash.

The video also shows its slide out QWERTY keypad, which supposedly couples its 4.2 inch Super AMOLED display.

There's also still speculation over the smartphone's likely OS. While most believe that it will be MeeGO, some people have also pointed to Symbian screen elements being used in the smartphone (hinting that it could be running on the widely anticipated Symbian Anna version instead). However, according to pocketnow site, the official MeeGo Facebook page confirms that its OS powers N9.

As for the other specs, the internet buzz suggests that the handset will pack a 1.2GHz processor, a dedicated gaming engine, 720p HD video capture, HSDPA and WiFi speeds and up to 64GB of built-in storage.

There is no word yet on Nokia N9's pricing and release date.

Fujitsu recently announced the launch of the Fujitsu Lifebook TH40 tablet, running Windows 7 Home Premium. The TH40 is a convertible tablet has a 10.1 inch screen, 1024 x 600 multi-touch display and a slide out keyboard.The TH40, weighing just over 1 kg, has two USB ports, an SD card slot, optical trackpad and HDMI out. It is powered by Intel Atom Z670 1.5 GHz processor. A 120 GB hard disk takes care of your storage solutions and the 1 GB RAM also adds to a snappy performance.

The 0.3MP front facing camera can be utilised for video-calling. Fujitsu claims that TH40 has a six-hour battery backup.

The tablet is expected to retail in June for an estimated USD 990 (Rs. 45,000 approx).
